Here's how it works,

We put many many vehicles with the same repairing system.

Jerry cans you find will be all empty

You cannot fill jerrycans through fuel tank.

You need portable generator to pump fuel from the fuel station, which would make a lot of noise, thus zombie horde pours in(Like L4D)

Defend yourself and escape when the fuel proccess is complete.

-Pros-

No more hoarders.

More people have access to vehicles

Exciting trigger event

More realistic

New resource that becomes much more valuable(group fights and raids become more often)

-Cons-

Could make performance sfraint to the servers.

There could be too much working vehicles which could break the immersion

1.A single person wouldn't even try because of the zombies.

And yes, fuel stations would become another hot zone like NW airstrip.

Is that bad? Only groups would try this because of the zombies and yes other

groups would likely make a trap. That is what i want to see, and i remember rocket saying the same.

2.Yes i'm worried about that too. Duping bug made the current vehicle hoarding possible but still there would be groups trying to hoard all the vehicles. But it would be much less of a problem than now.Still we could discuss for a solution

3.Can you give me details on this? This could differ depending on people's perspective. i think this is more realistic.

4.I don't want automatically spawning zeds either. Im asking for the generator to be really noisy so it could attract all the zombies in the town.

5.Yes, more people can access the vehicles but they can't use it because they have no fuel! also they would have to repair it.This is to prevent hoarders to own alll the vehicles.

6.Having a similar feature with l4d doesn't necessarily means it's bad. L4d is a good game.
