Drag-Drop Inventory System and Timed Warnings for Server Shutdowns.

Recommended Posts

One thing that really hinders a player in this game is the inventory system, the fact that you have to aim your cursor directly onto something to pick it up, and sometimes that doesn't work too well. Or when you're trying to shift things around in your backpack, i.e. switching guns from your backpack to your main inventory would require you to: drop your current primary weapon on the floor, open your inventory, open your backpack, shift the existing weapon into your equipped slot, close your backpack, look at the weapon on the floor, open your inventory, open your backpack, shift that weapon into your backpack, and if it didn't pick up all the mags, look at each mag left on the ground and open your inventory, and open your backpack, and shift them back into your backpack.

I know that this is still in alpha, but the backpack and inventory system wasn't ever really refined in Arma too well, if it is possible to add a drag-drop system for easier on-the-go type organizing, it would work better especially considering how highly stressful this mod is, you don't want to sit still for too long to shift things around because there are undead and human predators lurking around, this can get you killed, not to mention the Servers being shut down abruptly can actually make you lose the stuff you had on the ground while shifting stuff around if the Server shuts down while you're doing this. So on top of a better inventory system, there should definitely be a Server shutdown notice with around one minute's warning before it goes down, that way people can ready themselves before it goes down, giving them a better chance of not losing anything and actually getting to a safe place before the Server goes down.

I thought you could already drag and drop? You can also double click on the objects.

Any widespread modding to the inventory system though would either have to work like rpmod/citylife's menu system or be some crazy exe hack that'd have to be updated every time BI released a beta patch.

Weight & Inventory system of Ace 2 may be a solution for this problem.

When you have something in your main inventory, you just click "pack" or "unpack" the thing you have and it works perfectly. Moreover, bags wouldn't have slots but volumes!

as far as i know, if you doubleclick a weapon in your inventory, it will not put it on the ground, it will actually override your existing weapon that is in your weapon slot, and making it disappear all together as a result, and you need to realize a lot of elements in this mod are not default or vanilla by any means, so adding new functionality wouldn't be so impractical.
