Mondag 0 Posted May 15, 2012 So I just heard about this mod today from my brother and was looking into playing it, I'll be getting it either way but one thing I was wondering about was whether or not two people could play the game off of the same steam account. I know its possible to do with other games like Dead Island and APB but wasn't sure how this worked. Thanks in advance!
Vipeax 318 Posted May 15, 2012 You probably can, if you don't join the same server.
Mondag 0 Posted May 15, 2012 That'd be no fun. Does it use your steam username when you jump on or something?
flarin.fldesign@gmail.com 0 Posted May 15, 2012 No, you can't do that because you have only one serial key. And the serial key is binded to your DayZ account ID.
Mondag 0 Posted May 15, 2012 So the DayZ account ID will be using my steam username? Or will I have to make a new account?
zukas3 0 Posted May 15, 2012 Just one answer. No.It's because it uses your Serial key that you have only one.(One per Steam purchase) As described above. So no.
The Killing Joke 43 Posted May 15, 2012 The way you've worded it, it cannot be done. In layman's terms, two people cannot be logged into Steam at the same time, but some games downloaded from Steam do allow you to play them without being logged in to Steam. That being said, I have Steam installed on my gaming rig, and on my laptop, and DayZ works fine, provided I'm only logged into one or the other.Clear?TKJ
Mondag 0 Posted May 15, 2012 I do know steam has an offline mode so two people can log in at the same time, as long as the online capabilities of the game don't directly run through steam then it may be able to work. Have you tried turning steam onto offline mode on one of your computers then leaving the second one online and trying to access Dayz on both of them at the same time TKJ? The Killing Joke 43 Posted May 15, 2012 Have you tried turning steam onto offline mode on one of your computers then leaving the second one online and trying to access Dayz on both of them at the same time TKJ?I haven't. I have never needed to. I would, however, caution against trying it before finding out from a Dev or Rocket himself on any possible repercussions. I'd hate to see anyone get the banhammer for this. That being said, if your brother doesn't already have the game, I'd get him to buy it, or buy it for him. It's so worth the money.TKJ
