Suddenly unable to pick up items

Problem goes as such:

Picking up loot in without problems, but suddenly i'm no longer able to pick up ANY items, anywhere. I have'nt minded it, and have blamed it on a random glitch until it happened many times during a single day, last one being when i lost my weapon after trying replace it with a better one i found, ending up losing it due to not being able to pick it up.

As an obligatory symphatizer, something like this really takes it's toll when you've managed you've managed to stay alive for hours have recently found a decent weapon, and lose it due to a nasty bug.

As a sidenotes, i did not find any reference to this particular bug (or it was phrased someway absurdly instead of simply "unable to pick up items" or something similiar).

Might have been server lag. I was on a server once where it was really struggling and I didn't seem to be able to pick anything up. A few minutes later though, it caught up. Took way longer than you'd have thought possible for that kind of problem though. Could it be that?
