Question about characters and different hard drives.

O.k so earlier I was playing with a few friends. We have been surviving for quite a while and have collected some nice gear. We unanimously decided to stop and play later on tonight. I just a few hours ago fixed my main hard drive (long story short it wasn't working I fixed it. It had been giving me problems for around a week) I've transferred my profile data from my second hard drive to my main. My question is, will my character be safe, is that stuff kept on a server to that profile name or what. I can switch to my other hard drive but I would prefer not to.
