How to pick up a weapon without erasing inventory?

So far I've picked up 2 weapons today, one was a revolver which I picked up to replace a makarov, that time it erased my inventory, I say erased b/c nothing was on the ground when I was done.

NOW I pick up a shotgun and it erases my inventory as well.

So far the only prolbme I have with this game is the damn inventory. It is so bug ridden I can't do jack. I had plenty of shotgun ammo for this nice shotgun I just picked up, now I get to beat someone ove rthe head with it I guess.

Yesterday when I picked up the Makarov I didn't have this issue. What the hell is going on?

Just to be safe i like to drop the gun, which don't want to use, away from the one I want to use. Then pick up the gun I want before placing the gun the 1st in my bag, don't have many problems with that, but i know it can be a wee bit buggy sometimes.

When you do that does it not erase everything from your inventory? The weapon while obviously important isn't as bad to lose as everything I have except what is on my toolbelt
