Why can't I connect to any servers?

Ok so I install Arma 2 through steam, open up, then close, install Arma 2 OA through steam, open up, then close, then install Dayz Mod through steam and then get on, then log off.  Update dayz Mod to 1.8.7 through steam, now, when I open DayZ Mod, I try to find all the public dayz mod servers, but I cant find any.  Non pop up on my search, then when I try to directly connect to a vanilla server I loved to play on, and sais its up, I just try to connect and it instant loggs me off saying cannot connect to server or something to that effect.  Should I be doing something different to play my favorite dayz mod server US 434.  if anyone has any help that would be greatly appreciated

Download DayZ Launcher or follow this guide from step 5.

Let me know how it goes!
