controller doesn't work anymore?

I haven't played this gamne since last summer, so it has been awhile. I was able to use my controller for most everything in the game and now all I can do is move around and look around. I can't pick anything up or anthing else. Basically just use the analog sticks.

Did something happen that I don't know about or am I suppose to do something to get the controller to work properly again?
