More Realism please

Recommended Posts

Well if I'm not mistaken Rocket´s plan is to create a zombie apocalypse simulator game.

so as similar to the real world challenges and scenarios.

the following ideas, some will make the game harder and some will make it easier to live with but all and all it's closer to reality.

Hear me out

Our bodies providing they are healthy and haven't lost to much blood then the bone marrow, thyroid, pituitary, adrenal glands, pancreas, liver, etc are able to replenish a pint of blood easily every 24 hours. so while resting it's natural to have your blood replenished over time.

I'm not a big fan of the almost magical healing abilities of items/stuff in games.

This game is about simulating real world scenarios. When I break my leg I'm not standing on that leg without a cast or a splint.

So what i'm thinking is though that morphine should not actually heal your broken legs, a splint and time should and the Morphine in combination with a splint can make you walk again though. finding or creating a makeshift splint with a hatchet and some wood would do just fine

so some ideas:

- Nobody empties a cantine at ones. should be able to have 3 or 4

drinks out of it. and beeing able to pass it along with your mates,

sharing it so to speak.

- Morphine does not heal broken legs -> a splint and time does.

with a splint and morphine you are able to walk though.

- Tents could provide a resting place to replenish blood, sleep/rest and

ease up from panic attacks ;)

- I really love the X marks the spot treasure like burial idea (somebody posted it dont know the name)

- I also would love to use the entrenching tool for actual Entrenching ;)

the sandbags, cool, but what about trenches?

- Whats with the waypoints? get rid of them, except with gps then you

should see the waypoint on the gps thingy but not right in front of you

floating digits.

- Books, there should be books ingame! I would love to find a SAS

survival manual or any other survival manual and reading it ingame at a small campfire and actually

learn from it. For example building traps to catch boar, bunnies etc

using rope a knife and some branches.

how about it?

if anything else comes to mind I'll edit this post ;)

Kind Regards,

Nicklorion

Sandbags are meant to provide "enfilade" or in DayZ standards, cover from enemy fire. Look the word up in google if you don't know what it means. Machine guns obviously require high elevations to provide suppressive fire superiority. Digging trenches (technically isn't possible because of the whole globally persistent servers,) but if the staff somehow coded it, I'd LOVE to see mortars included in the game. I miss my MOS so much, I'm tempted to re-enlist, but I usually remember the pay, work hours, stress, etc.

I'd imagine way points are there to counteract the "GPS Hack." Anyone who has a gps in their inventory slot, can be seen by whoever has the hack. The group I belong in, has coincidentally been ambushed on three separate occasions, in the same night, by the same four people, on a low population server (8 to be exact.) We didn't even try to loot the typical hotspots either, it was just Lopatino and a few small villages (five houses, with one enter-able building.) We're so paranoid now, that when we see [G5R] clan tags, we remove all gps in the group. We can't really prove they're hacking....so....we're S.O.o.L.

Thought I'd give you a heads up on that last one.

EDIT: HERE'S THE LINK FOR YOU TO LOOK AT AND SEE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.

There is a random chance to get botulism when eating canned food.

There is a random chance to get horribly sick when drinking water. All water must be boiled at a campfire before consumption.

Weapons jam.

Zombies can run full speed indoors.

Your shooting/aiming skill is on par with someone who has never held or fired a gun before.

Hardcore realism. Deal with it.

I do like some of the ideas and I think the DayZ team is aware of what realism is lacking and what is spot on... Adding stuff like this will take time and some of it may be a little over the top. I get where you're coming from though. I posted a thread about a Hygiene meter, I think the game would benefit from that.

regarding the entrenching I thought it would be difficult to incorporate this in the game not because of the "technically isn't possible because of the whole globally persistent servers" but because of the game engines architect. but i'd love it :)

And about the: i'd imagine way points are there to counteract the "GPS Hack."

I actually did not know about this hack :S now I'm paranoid :(

Those ideas are actually pretty good! I like them
