Frankly, that bullshit is whats wrong with the majority of the players. They seem to think you can survive running around screaming "I'm friendly! WANNA TEAM UP BRO??!?@". Completely delusional.

I did try that tactic for the first few days of Dayz. After I was shot on sight 5-6 times in a row - I decided it was best being on guard at all times - rather shooting first than trying to interact.

I very rarely say "Im friendly" anymore.  I mainly try and start up a normal conversation by saying things like "Hi there.  You ok?".

 

The "friendly" line is far to overused by assholes who are too poor at the game that they need you to stand still so they can shoot you.
