I'm trying to get my server set up and I'm on the last step where I start the Hive files (right now on hiveAuth). Well, it says it successfully connected to the MySQL database but it's stuck on "Waiting for client connection..."

What do I do?

Also having this issue, I was discussing it in this thread with another user.

http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2508

I've sent an e-mail out and posted in the sticky for help. I was never linked a server guide so I can't troubleshoot it myself. I'm out of luck until the dev team member that was loading the mod on my box responds back. :P

From what I have read, the devs have fixed it on servers before. I'm not sure why they haven't told anyone what they did to fix it.

Running the hive files is a tricky scenario.

First you launch the ArmA 2 server. Then you launch the re3gular Hive file. It will sit at waiting for client... At that point you have to have a player connect to the server.

One a player connects, Hive will say "Creating Child" or something alone those lines. It will then say Ping...Pong! after it says Ping Pong, Launch Hive Auth, at that point, give it 5 minutes and everything should launch fine.

All you have to do is

1 run hiveauth

2 run hive

3 start arma server

that's it, once the first player connects the server loads the mission file , hive auth will ping...pong on all the assets will be loaded, and then the game starts, or complexity's just 3 steps :)

When I try to start the server it says "The program can't start because X3dAudio1_6.dll is missing from your computer."

Try both methods. For me, I have to do it in the order I stated. Because if I dont, they constantly wait for client for me...

Are you just using the standalone server? You need to have the game installed as well. Also make sure you run any DirectX setups and the Battleye setup.

Fixed that error and logged on to my server and it says something like Waiting for Host, but the hiveAuth still isn't saying anything different

If you started HiveAuth, then Hive, and the server launched successfully (without error) it could be a configuration issues the devs have to look into. Is your console getting spammed with DayZ loading messages when somebody joins the server?

Also, to double check, try relaunch the hive programs or reboot your server and try again (if possible). I heard that fixes it sometimes.

One more question, did you get a unique ID setup with the admins?

It's spamming "read from bank" and yes I got a unique ID. What about the part that says:

//reportingIP = "arma2oapc.master.gamespy.com";

Is my IP supposed to be there

No, leave that as it is, or your server won't show in the server list

Naw, that was the console stuff I was getting too. You may need a dev to look into it.

How I got my server to work - Install steam. Download and install Arma2+Arma2:OA

Download CBA_MAIN/CBA_A2

Download JayArma2Lib

Get Rocket n Co to install HIVE

Run DX_Setup (this is important) to install the neccesary libraries.

Start Arma2_Serv using the shortcuts to load the required mods.

Start HiveAuth AND Hive.

Let the server load when it says Mission Read - Log in, and start the mission.

Hive and Auth will start communicating then.

When the server hangs, I just close Arma2serv and relaunch.

Only lost one chopper and a jeep to this.

You need to delete the // in your reportingIP line. Those two lines comment out anything after them, so anything after them are ignored.

Make sure your firewall isn't blocking the Hive data. From memory it uses TCP port 3306.

Thanks. They fixed it last night :)

How was this fixed?, same problem here with hive...."Waiting for client connection..."

Was it a dev thing their end or server side?

FIXED:

Was "dsound.dll" missing from arma2 game folder, required by arma2lib.

copied from arma2lib folder to actual arma2 game folder and all working now.
