Squad Communication: How to, and How Very Not To

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, last week my usual group realised our communication was a little awful and aimed to coordinate much more efficiently.

Everything worked out well at first, as ground team and overwatch working together like a well oiled machine. Ten minutes later, it all falls apart. Watch for schadenfreude.

Very good teamwork. You have good communication, but as a squad you aren't very punctual when you speak. Establish guidelines for how and when you say things

For example, you see an enemy player, you would give a contact report. This usually includes announcement, usually with the word "CONTACT!", followed by direction, (compass bearing), number of enemies, and any other information you can relay.

Dyslecxi has a good video on this

Thanks, Guppy. "Contact" and initial numbers etc were before I hit record in the first instance, and the second part was me coming into my squad dying, without any effective comms at all. Compass bearing is the method some of us use, but a lot of the group fall back to "my left/right" and most annoyingly "he's right there".

There's weak links in the group, and we all shit the bed occasionally. I'll post dyslecxis video to my group, should definitely help!

I suggest setting up an arma 3 server (provided you all have it) and teaching them yourself as well :D

Your group sounds like a well oiled bunch. Keep on keepin' on   :beans:

Thanks a bunch, man :) I'm trying to keep the quality up, shame our gameplay isn't quite as smooth haha.

Lone wolfing means you don't have to rely on other people, but there's nobody to look out for you, too! I love a good mix of group sizes, really changes the feel of the game.

Need to try invisible friends though, haha.
