Hello there. I did a few google searches to see if I can somehow host my own server for DayZ Standalone. I've found that I can only pay hosts a monthly fee in order to host my own server. Why is that? Why can't I just host a server like I can in Arma 3?

Hey Boogyman93 the game is still in alpha and there are too many security gaps in the code that would probably lead to more hacks.

Even in further developmnent it could mean a security risk.

 

This is not the only reason.

Developers fear that the integrity of the current gameplay could be undermined with servers like "helicopter spawns x20" or "spawn with a sniper kit" etc.

 

Currently there are strict rules on how you can run a server even when you rent them and you will not get any access to critical server files.
