Story of my stupid death.

Recommended Posts

So my mate and i had just got done lootin' the tents in Stary Sobor, we went to one of the long barns/sheep pens to take shelter from the rain, plus we were getting pretty cold. So we were sitting there with two green chemlights sticking out like a sore thumb in a night time server mind you. I look about with my flashlight and see a guy running up to us. I say to my mate "There's a person RIGHT there" and he replies with a loud "WHAT?!" Now we didn't actually have anything to defend ourselves with other than a hatchet and he had a Winchester from what i can remember.

But you know what? The guy had the drop on us and we were unarmed.. But he didn't shoot us, he actually joined our group and went to the NW Airfield with us which went great. We encountered no players which i found completely mental. Welp, we got done looting the last barracks and decided to call it a night, my mate logged out in the middle of a barracks which i found rather dangerous so i logged out in the nearby treeline. He went to sleep and so did the other guy whom we joined up with. I was still wide awake so i went on another server to check for some more loot. Sure enough there was some, but not only that there was also three dead players, two players wearing civ clothing and one wearing a ghillie suit. I was stoked and got a Coyote backpack, M1911 with around 5 mags, bunch of blood bags and an AKM-74. I was happy as all hell as this was the best stuff i've ever had, which to some of you is probably not that good. Now, i went to the other Barracks and there was barb wire fence running all the way through the barracks. I could see something at the end of the hall which looked like NV Goggles.. I almost shat myself and i had to get in there. Well after much trying i did and sure enough NV GOGGLES! I was happier than a fat kid at Mcdonalds. I opened up one of the doors and saw a fucking M24 which i HAD to have. The wire fencing proved to be a bitch here though but i kept trying, and finally! I got over, i stand in the door way like an idiot and instead of picking up the M24 what happens? Door closes and i go *CRUNCH* instant death.

Needless to say i was royally pissed, so pissed infact i ran through Cherno, Nadzhino, Stary Sobor and Kabanino not giving a single fuck about the zombies.. I must've had 60+ after me. But i didn't give a shit, i wanted my gear back just praying my body hadn't despawned.. Welp, i made it to Kabanino, saw a bicycle got on it, but i didn't notice the broken tire. So i was sitting there with 20+ zombies attacking me, only they couldn't hit me so i was ringing the bell like a madman hoping to make them go away.. But yeah that ain't gonna happen, i got off tried to run but got hit and got knocked out.

SO, that's the story of me going from having great luck to the worst luck in the world.. Or maybe i was just a clutz..

Anyways, this became much longer than i expected. Hope it wasn't too long.

See ya, and good luck on your future endevours

Oh yeah! TL;DR: Found sweet shit, Got killed by door.

I don't know how hard is to fix this and more, lets call it a minor problems around the game. I was involved 10 years ago in some game devs (my job was 3D modeling and textures) but ofc i watch what other guys do and it was usually a one number to change door closing rate and i remember that value 0 means that door never close automatic.

As i said... really don't know Arma 2 engine (am more interested in models and textures) but am sure that guys work very hard and that in one moment this will be fixed.

Oh yeah! TL;DR: Found sweet shit' date=' Got killed by door.

[/quote']

happened to me when i tried to loot these wooden toilet sheds you see sometimes beside a house

you have to go prone to retrieve items in there

back then i still opened inventory with default use action given by the game, so while crawling into the shed i kept pressing the default action button until the door icon appeared, and of course the door disagreed with the placement of my head.

funny enough i wasn't dead, but lost about 6000 blood and broken bones.

lesson: dont use default action to open inventory/pick up items, if there is another way.
