Tents failing

Hi I have successfully deployed a number of tents but so far when I come back the next day all my gear is gone.

What could the issue be?

Please note:

Tents are extremely well hidden, for one of them I went off the map and into the forestless plains to test out what was going on.

I am scrolling to save and activating it.

On one of the tents my friend set it up and logged and I "saved" it.

For another tent I did both the set up and save. He may also have done the save as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's getting depressing watching items, some rare vanish as I try to go get other equipment.
