Coming back to the mod after over a year, what should i do?

I'm wondering what mod's/maps i should try/retry as its been well over a year since i've last played this game. What maps/mods are really worth downloading that will give me that awesome dayz feel and gameplay that i had 2 years ago? And which would be the best servers to do so?

Vanilla is still the best IMO. It's changed it a little bit over the past year though, PvE survival is considerably more challenging now.
