Changes to Zombie Aggro Mechanics

Recommended Posts

Since the game is supposed to be extremely realistic, I really don't like the way zombies can find you no matter where you run once you have aggro'ed them. If I were to fire a rifle from behind cover IRL, the zombies would hear me, sure! However I believe they should just go and search the area the shot came from, and if they can find me, then aggro! Maybe this would be only past 50 yards or so, whatever works. At night, you could even fire from anywhere you wanted to(not from cover) and still have hope of eluding the zeds. Fire, move to a different spot, fire again. I guess it could probably lead to zombies being much easier to deal with, but if this were a real zombie apocalypse and I wanted to get into a building. I wouldn't just run straight past all of the zombies into the building where they're much easier to kill, that would expose me to a lot of unnecessary risk. Thanks for reading.

If you read the changelog for the new update..

[FIXED] Infected hear perfectly through objects (noise reduced by 50% through an object)

and

[NEW] Exponent driven probability introduced into visibility calculation

In other words, if a zombie hears you, he will investigate the noise. If he sees you, he will chase you until Line of Sight is broken.

Also, in the last patch.

[NEW] Infected can't attack through walls

* [NEW] Infected can't see through objects any more

* [NEW] Infected visibility increased (but limited by LOS)

* [NEW] Infected attack range increased (but limited by LOS)

* [NEW] Infected can cause greater damage when they hit you

* [NEW] You can hide from an infected chasing you

Deviant is correct. What you suggest has pretty much been implemented.

I use fire from cover and shoot and scoot all the time now.

I have actually started killing them just to see how they react. It is an ALPHA after all.

Thanks guys, I'm sorry I'm not the best at keeping up with the new updates, as I don't know where to read it. I'm sure a simple google search will fix that problem though. :D
