Herbiees 0 Posted July 3, 2012 I will tell you my story. So I have been playing DayZ now for about 10 hours? When I first started playing I trusted people, and even after being killed a few times by so called 'Friendlies' I tried not to get discouraged, I just thought there were just a couple bad apples. So in my play session, things start slow (like always). I run to Cherno and start looking in the usual hot-spots. I manage to get a Makarov with about 8 mags, a tent, an Alice Pack, and then I hit a jackpot of medical supplies. I mean I didnt have enough room in my bags to get all of this. I came out with 7 blood-bags, Painkillers, Bandages, 5 Epi-pens, 6 Morphine-Injectors. I ended up dropping many Makarov mags to make space. I was getting antsy. I didn't want to lose my things so I bolted out when I was ready. As I was running past the last building on my way out of Cherno I heard someone calling 'Friendly, Friendly!' I replied that I was. I told him I was just leaving to make camp and he could come along if he wanted. This was my downfall. When we got into the treeline the 'Friendly' whipped out his Makarov and killed me. I was so devastated that after getting my first really good session, at least I think it was, some random guy, for no apparent reason, kills me when I let him into my circle of trust. :(. From now on, I think I'll be shooting first, and asking questions later. TL;DR had really good session, some 'friendly' kills me. Banditry ensues.
speca 193 Posted July 3, 2012 Being a bandit is simply easier than being a survivor whom helps others, for example, you can kill someone whom has gone all the way to NW airfield whilst you spawned in say, Electro, this will give you their gear. This is a minimal effort for you whilst a maximin effort for them. Welcome to being a bandit friend, i hope you enjoy it like i do.
stanb@gmx.at 19 Posted July 3, 2012 IMO one thing about the game will never change, if you are somewhere in close range to another person, you shoot. If you are somewhere save and just watching a guy in the distance and global chat is on, I personally would ask if hes friendly and if he is not looting what I want to loot I'm gonna let him go.But im not getting near him and trust him, had bad experiences with that. The only guys you can trust are your direct mates or groups you join and you are in voice with etc.Sad but true
Diviner 10 Posted July 3, 2012 First off, you really did not have anything that special so do not feel to bad. Having that many medical supplies is actually useless. Usually, you only need a few of each (epi-pens are useless, bloodbags are useless if you are solo). Medical supplies are easy to come by along the coast. Second off, do not trust anyone ever unless you know them in real life. "Bandits" are a concept made by some players that feel that everyone should be nice and not shoot each other. The players who claim that are not bandits are usually noobs who have not been very far North. Veteran players generally will kill on sight no matter what. If I'm in town and see some one I don't know though it's game over for that person.

Elliot (DayZ) 0 Posted July 3, 2012 I started out similarly, my friend and I even spared the lives of other groups in favour of excaping alive.. A guy can only take so much, you trust a few too many people and you can easily tip the scales in favour of "Banditry".We've turned from well intentioned survivalists to stone cold bean bandits. If we don't have a good reason, well probably kill you just to bury you with your flashlight. Better them than us.
