epoxxx 0 Posted May 15, 2012 I was reading some posts and I've seen a lot of gripes about this new zed update, so bear with me on this rant of mine. Now this is the greatest zombie mod survival game I have ever played (and technically not even a game yet) and people are saying it's to easy, so now we have the new zed update which makes it harder than before. And now people are saying there's to much of the zombies. So I will list why this is a good update.#1 Zombies are now greater numbers as should be due to the fact that the population of said island Is roughly 4 million as of 2008. Now millions of zombies would seem very crazy for a game obviously so one should not complain about 500+ zombies :)#2 Zombies are more silent making it harder to realize you aggro'd them if you don't pay attention to your six.#3 This game is now not just about zombie killing. Contrary to what most are saying this update does not encourage run and gun scenarios, but more so stealth infiltrations and take outs. Sure you can run and gun but more and more zeds will come leaving you low on ammo and on the menu for said zeds, I don't know about you but that isn't my plan :)#4 situational awareness is not just a suggestion now but a definite MUST. If you see 1 zed and take him out without paying attention to what else could be lurking in the shadows will also leave you on the menu :)#5 TEAMWORK is a HUGEEEEEEE MUST!!!!!!! Need I explain more?#6 Realize this is just the beginning and there will be updates you won't like, but that's why we are here. Adding input will help this mod turn into a full fledge game.Hope you enjoy feel free to add at your discretion folks. #PATY
Timberwolf (DayZ) 118 Posted May 15, 2012 I believe everyone will agree with your post and actually some people would want more zombies. What players are complaining about is the spawn rate which makes zombies even in small towns practically unlimited which is ridiculous.

This way you cannot kill 5 zombies in a building and be free and clear. Just my opinion :D

Just my opinion :DWell I don't agree with you. Zombies should not respawn for a long time and when players take control of a town/city they should only spawn in the outskirts. The way it is now is ridiculous with almost instant respawn disregarding player location. The fast respawn time makes up for the actual 4 million zombies that could be in the server at 1 time. More realism with a faster respawn time.
masacrualex 6 Posted May 15, 2012 ^ lol no, it's like I clear this house, go back to the 1st floor to be mauled again. Not only that you waste ammo that way and loot is not that rich it's frustrating too. Don't try to make it look awesome because the dev said the zombie increase wasn't intentionally. There's a barrier between challenge and wtfno.
Bandit (DayZ) 3 Posted May 15, 2012 Id say add more!
col.nikolai 0 Posted May 15, 2012 With the current spawn rate, even with eight mags for the akm, I run out before I can even clear a town now. I feel sorry for the new guys with the cruddy makerov that have to deal with this over kill.Personally I want three zombies, walkers - runners - and our monkeys. Then decrease the spawn rate and up the zombie count and I'll be happy. Its ridiculous to clear a town and poof another thirty to run from and hope I live because I used all my medications on the last attack...

Only in very remote areas. But certainly rocket will reduce the spawn rate or at least the way it works.
Cmdr Snipes 1 Posted May 15, 2012 I would have to say that the amount of zeds around could be a bit more numerous, especially around the outskirts of the town. Make them more dangerous to enter, and even moreso to leave. I feel this would force people to use more tactical insertion and extraction plans than simply fire the loudest rifle and let the team mow them down. In addition, it would force people to work together or brawl, bringing in a larger variation of player interactions, ergo, making the game much less predictable and keep people on their toes. This plays in very nicely with how the zombies spawn so quickly now, than before this latest patch. Let's say your groups objective is simply to get into the Military Camp at Stary Sobor. Instead of cleaning up shop from the zed infestation and sifting through the piles of supplies, you now have to think, "How long should we stay?" "How many zeds are going to be wandering by, forcing us to give away our position?" "How many zombies will spawn on top of us?" "Is the risk worth the effort?" "If we unknowingly give our position away by gunfire, what strategic exits can we make, and how quickly?"These two "problems" that I see so much heated debate about is what we are (or at least should be) here for. Instead of a "push-button-receive-reward" style of gameplay, you're going to be using a lot of thinking to simply survive and exponentially more in the process of becoming well equipped. You're going to need to be silent, quick, cunning, and coordinated in order to survive. No player will be rewarded simply by using run-and-gun tactics or shallow thought processes. It won't be acceptable to many people, but I feel it will keep gameplay fresh and challenging if it stays as it is.
