The Main issue with this game

Recommended Posts

So i am in a rather large clan in DayZ and been playing it a while now non stop, i hear alot of complaints from people about several issues, here is a list

Players spawning in and killing people in key areas, i dont like rockets idea about logs track log in and out and will punish you, it would be better if when we spawn in we spawn a certain distance from any players allowing the players have a chance to see approaching griefers.

players logging off to avoid death, simple fix for this is to add a timer, so that when someone logs out, there body is still around for 5minutes, yes 5minutes, and during this time they cannot log back in, harsh but fair imo.

the last issue i do not hear being mentioned so much but for me personally its the biggest killer of the game, "Tents", thats right, tents are the number 1 problem with this game and should be the number 1 prio for the team to sort out.

Why tents you ask? simple, right now as it stands there is zero reward in this game for your time spent, zero progression, sure you kill someone and loot them, now you have some fancy stuff until 5 minutes later you loose it to another player, you spend hours or days salvaging gear, you wish to store it so worst case you die at least you have some stuff to fall back on, oh wait we cant do that because tents despawn loot or even despawn themselves with server restarts, it's a joke tbh.

The game offers no rewarding feeling as it stands, what it is, spend hours and hours or days on end looting items/guns etc and then you die to a bugged mob who knocks you out even though you are at 12k blood but you still die. we need some form of stable storage, think about it for a minute and it might sink in.

Adding bear traps? do we really need such a useless item in an alpha? i know i for one would much prefer to be able to save that extremely rare la85 or NVG's in a working tent over a bear trap.

TLDR team is creating bear traps when they should be fixing the important stuff, my 2cents.

I've been thinking the same thing myself but from the completely opposite direction. Once you/your clan have stocked up tents the penalty for death goes from catastrophic (loosing your gear) to an annoyance as you spend 10 minutes or what ever getting back to your camp.

That leads to a massive disparity between experienced/well stocked players and new players. Not only that but it kills the survival element of the game... on a new spawn you're supposed to be starting from scratch with nothing.. a new survival story, not just a quick trip to your tents then back out armed to the teeth.

Alpha is for adding features, like bear traps

Beta is for fixing bugs, like screwed up tents.

It's gonna be okay, friends.

the main problem, IMO, is the pvp - there's nothing wrong with players fighting each other, but the ubiquity of grossly OP military weapons just ruins all engagements. i liked the game better when people were shooting each other with winchesters and enfields. now we have m107's and mk48's. what a joke.

This is a good point of view and i have thought about it aswell, but i still feel the reward > the run to a tent. besides, if anything if there was alot of tents spread out over the map stock piled, it would give not so geared people a better chance of that nice loot. i dont know how they could fix this, but take eve online for example, as it stand you kill someone ( blow up there ship) you can loot there modules and store them in a station, it has a rewarding feel to it and experienced players have a ton of ships/modules stock piled, it doesnt really affect the game, and if you get podded you are podded back to your home station which can be a pain and somewhat like what you said about going back to tent.

Maybe if they had the spawn after death random on the map it might remove the omg run straight line up north to tent. as it stands i just know that most people in my clan that loot a la85 or such hardly want to do anything with the team, they generally go solo into towns that no1 bothers with and are to afraid to have fun in the game.

Also when someone dies they loose it all regardless of bugs and exploiters, bit harsh having no fall back at all. Good argument though and id like to see a balance between the 2.

couldnt agree less, i see fully pimped guys with nvg's gps, m4 sd's etc, and someone with an ak rapeing them, there is still the aspect of skill/luck and not to mention all the exploiters in the game at the moment. the m107 or as50 is only as good as the person using it and to be fair, the dmr is better then the more rare snipers you mentioned due to it being able to scope with nvg's

Alpha

yes and making bear traps over fixing a rewarding aspect makes everything alright. k
