Server names and enforcement

Recommended Posts

Well it was a thread debating server names and rules- my comment was directly related to server rules

This has been an issue since launch, reported multiple times, and still you have done nothing. A much easier solution would be to just lock public servers from been able to kick people, as they have literally no need at all for that on Public servers. That feature has been left in to sell more servers

But there's no problem with the debate in itself at all. However, there's a distinct problem with unfounded accusations like:

1. "The dev's won't even acknowledge this issue": I disagree, there's been a process for reporting servers since day one. That the process is not as easy as you would like it to be does not at all equal indifference on the subject from the team.

and now:

2. "That feature has been left in to sell more servers": Wrong, and as you mention, this is a thread debating server names and rules; low level conspiracy theories on company finance and server admin policy have no place in this context.

As mentioned before, here's where the train went off the tracks guise. Again.

because every server on the public list with less than 10 people is pretty much doing this, its taken over all of your public servers, its impossible to go on a low pop server and chill on public, they all kick you just for joining, and B.I. still never removes that kick option because it helps keep servers popular

That's not the case. The option is there so that server admins can kick users that are not "playing nice".

You may perform the following actions on your server:

- Restart server

- Kick abusive players (harassment, cheating, exploiting bugs)

- Be aware that this can tread a fine line, and if you are found to be violating this rule your server may be disabled until the issue can be addressed.

And here lies the absolute cause of all the problems with abusive admins. You have admitted it that BI have given PUBLIC HIVE server owners the right to kick anyone that they judge to be 'abusive players'.

That option should not be there. If someone is cheating or abusing bugs that should come under BI's remit to sort out via battleye or whatever it uses.

Giving server hosts that option at all has been the problem since launch, and still remains to be. Until that is addressed the entire game is completely unfair, based on pay to win whoever has the server rights and can kick anyone for 'abusive'. Seriously, spend 10mins of your day going through the public list and note the amount of people kicking. It is an epidemic and continues to break the game.

Is anything going to change for launch or will you continue allowing public hive server admins to kick whoever they want?

Its fairly obvious that there is a correlation between allowing people to kick whoever they want, and sales of servers.

The other solution is of course provide servers for the game as we have already paid for the game, we shouldn't have to rent a server to play it. Private servers should be allowed but this abuse of public hive is on-going, game breaking, and BI has provided no indication of

A) Admitting the problem exists

B. Making a solution to the problem

From what Ive read in your replies above, BI think's this is working as intended and there is no issues with game breaking admins

Please don't forget that BE is still undergoing development like DayZ is. In the meantime, the option of kicking abusive players for harassment, cheating, or exploiting bugs is there so that server admins have the option of removing such players. While the team is working hard on removing the grounds for players being able to cheat/exploit bugs, there's not much that can be done towards harassment from a development point of view.

Again, there is nothing constructive at all in your continuous unfounded allegations like for example Bohemia Interactive giving access to kicking abusive players only for the sole purpose of being able to rent out servers.

If we didn't acknowledge that the problem exists or if we didn't think that there is a problem with abusive admins, there would not be a process set up for reporting servers.
