Server Log Problem

I'm a new admin on a server hosted by ViLayer on a private shard(?) and we've been having problems with the logs no updating for the last couple of days. I've tried doing anything and everything I can think of i.e restarting server,stopping and starting it back up again, turning persistence on and off, and generally messing about with everything I can.

 

Any suggestions for a Noob Admin?

Vilayer changed their logs recently. Instead of going in to one file they're split up per scheduled restart.

yeah, I know. the problem is that new log files don't seem to get created at all.  My bad misrepresented the issue.
