bungatron 5 Posted April 10, 2015 Coming from a survivors point of view a Ghillie Bag Wrap would be a great addition to the craftable item list. We all know how frustrating it is trying to hide in the grass with a Shining beacon on our backs (Mountain Backpack). Backpacks can easily give your opponent an advantage over you in combat, lying down with a colourful backpack on is simply useless. That's where a Ghillie Bag Wrap can come in handy, simply craft this piece of equipment like a Ghillie Gun Wrap and attach to your bag. Simple? Having this item would allow for fair combat situation on the battlefield, However. There is a catch. If you want to stay completely hidden in combat you must cover your whole bag, no? After applying the Ghillie Bag Wrap to your backpack, you will no longer have access to the contents inside without removing the wrap. This will heavily restrict the loading of ammunition or even wielding certain weapons. However it will conceal your beacon of light in the midst of combat allowing you to stay hidden and strike your enemy when they least expect it. Obviously not being able to wear a backpack with a Ghillie Suit on, this will allow for the player to have some sort of Ghillie whilst also being able to wear a backpack. Having a Ghillie Bag Wrap and a Ghillie Head piece in combination could prove to be deadly in combat and give you the edge on your opponent who cannot wear a backpack due to his Ghillie Suit. Although not being able to access your bag whilst having a Bag Wrap attached you can still have the upper hand, Just whip it out of your backpack and attach it. Suggesting that it only consumes 4 slots (2x2) you will be able to attach it at the snap of your fingers. I think this would be a great addition not only for combat but also for stealth. Thank-you for reading my suggestion, if you think this would be a good addition please +1 it would be greatly appreciated.
ASTINvlogs 44 Posted April 10, 2015 Meh, sure why not.
kradarak 23 Posted June 21, 2015 I'd like to kinda endorse this idea. Something like a ghillie tarp or ghillie wrap for a backpack would be ideal. Someone running around in a ghillie isn't going to wanna be loaded down, so they'd have to make a stash somehow so they can be mobile. So, a camo stash, a ghillie tarp big enough for a backpack or ghillie wrap all sound like good ideas. I would favor a ghillie tarp though...as this is actually a thing. OnionOfShame 138 Posted June 21, 2015 Hmm, I'm kind of both for and against this idea...I lean more towards against though. On one hand there is the argument of realism. In real life You would be able to do this, and it could obviously be very helpful. But on the other hand there is the argument of game balance. The choice between the two endgame backpacks is intended to be a bit of a compromise. You can have a Mountain Backpack with very high carrying capacity that is highly visible, or you can sacrifice some space for greatly enhanced camouflage with the Hunting Backpack. This way there is some element of choice for your gear, rather than there being one obvious choice as the objective best gear. Personally I would like to see more of this in DayZ, so in my opinion this Ghillie wrap should not be implemented.
kradarak 23 Posted June 23, 2015 Well, I guess we have a differing of opinions. I think the ghillie suit taking up so much space in the mountain backpack is balanced enough. Besides, when I change into it, there are a number of places I can hide my backpack where nobody will find it already. This already exists in the game. I can enter a cluster of fir trees for example...2-3 of them, change into my ghillie. If I'm sure nobody seen me enter, I'm fine. Also, ghillies can be hot. I can crawl deeper into a pond, and change there. My bag is underwater and you cannot see it and there is no reasonable chance you'd go there looking for loot. So, it's not the feature of hiding the backpack I want. It's the chance of you maybe finding it I'd risk to place it in other locations that may be more opportune for me as an assassin. I'm giving up less concealment of my loot in exchange for not ANY placement, but a natural placement where I could normally hide myself in a ghillie suit. The fun part I think about setting placement is making sure I can find the bag after I'm done with whatever operation I'm on. LOL I can imagine me standing around like a noob trying to find my own bag...then *flash* black screen You are Dead. :)
