Can Hear Sounds and Move Player, but Screen Stuck at Menu

Hey everyone,

I had DayZ running fine on Window 7 (32-bit) but I upgraded to Win 8.1 Pro, and now when I try to play DayZ, it will get stuck at the menu screen, even though I can click play and hear the game load in and I can hear my character moving around when I hit WASD.

I've verified game cache, reinstalled DayZ from Steam, etc. and nothing fixes it.

I have an AMD Phenom II 945 with plenty of RAM and everything.

Try right clicking dayz in your library.  Go to set launch options, put in -nosplash -skipIntro see if that works.

That still doesn't work.

Just to clarify, the background/character won't even load in at the main menu. It just has the play/character/change server, etc with a black background.

Could it be a video card issue?
