Caleb Nesheq 0 Posted July 2, 2012 Suggestion: Tripflares and paraflares in Day Z.A google search should swiftly explain what these mean along with video demonstrations like this: The essential difference between the two is that a paraflare has a parachute, and a tripflare does not ( simple ballistic flare ).Each of these is a hand launched, disposable, tube launched device about 2 inches in diameter by about a foot long. They have a safety cap protecting the trigger and are generally stored in a waterproof bag. ( I mention that because they should not be easily damaged by rain or brief submersion.) When triggered, the paraflare's parachute deploys at apogee ( highest point), burns out before reaching the ground, but meanwhile provides wide area lighting for perhaps a minute or 2. There may be colours - I don't know. The ones I have seen during my time in the reserves were magnesium white and the level of light was like that of a full moon on a clear night. We were cautioned not to look directly at it, as it would temporarily 'night blind' us.Tripflares or paraflares can also be used attached to an object, with a tripwire attached to another object. Strictly speaking either object could be movable or non. The firing angle need not be vertical.Sorry for the lengthy description but I like to be thorough.
