do i need to purchase arma 2: CO or will purchasing arma 2 and arma 2 operation arrowhead separately be sufficient?

or do i need operation arrowhead at all?

Separate will work fine. I've done it both ways with Steam.

Arma 2: OA is required. Some people have been using the free version of Arma 2 with a legit copy of Arma 2: OA, but I'm not sure how long that will work.
