Bow and Arrow improvement

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow survivors,

first of all: I am thrilled that there is a bow and arrow crafting recipe in DayZ SA.

I wanted to state that above all, but as a guy who is practicing archery IRL it bugs me a lot that the crafted ashwood shortbow looks like something a 3 year old would make! There is a little more to bow crafting than cutting a branch and attaching a string and therefore it schould look like it! Dear developers please consider to google for prehistoric archery designs and be stunned what can and has to be done with stone tools to make a bow that is able to put down an animal.

Furthermore: since there is already the stone knive crafting, please add arrowhead crafting from stones aswell! Neither animals nor people can get deadly wounds from sharpened wooden sticks. It would be a very lucky shot to kill someone or something with that.

Keep up the good work you've done so far!

Depends on how thick the sharpened stick is, and what type of wood it is made out of. Furthermore the bow couldn't just be made with a rope, not enough tension which explains why arrows shoot 5 feet before drop becomes horrible. My suggestion is add some longbows and if they keep the improvised make more steps. Like get the ashwood stick, grind it down to get all of the rough patches out so it's easier to handle, ability to put notches in with knives/axes. And then last some other material then just a rope unless that's the only thing available. Then at that point it's acceptable.

Hello :)

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/219800-bow-and-arrow/?hl=friendlyfarmer#entry2208887 especially Post #7 is interesting.

btw. with the Update yesterday they added Bone tipped Arrows, so currently there are 3 different types of Arrows in the Game.

Wooden tipped

Bone tipped

and

Compostie Arrow.

However there seems to be no difference between these types atm
