DayZ SA "session lost" when joining server (possible new fix)

Recommended Posts

Hello. new here. so basically one possible way to fix "session lost" errors you get instantly when trying to join servers:

I had this problem and tried everything except re-install..

well here's the story. I uninstalled DayZ via steam and steam left 2 files in the original game addon folder which I tracked down that weren't supposed to be in there for the current version. 0.53 (or whatever it's now), those files were version 0.33 files which uninstall didn't remove.

So, knowing the game engine DayZ runs on, even extra addon can cause error when server detects you have a file that server doesn't have.. so.. I removed the files which uninstall left behind and re-downloaded DayZ..

last time I played DayZ was over half a year ago so (maybe old version files were left behind and steam failed to remove them during updates?)

if I recall right, one of the files were called "samplemap_test2" which isn't supposed to be in current version's addons folder.. there should be only "samplemap_test3" and similiar. confirmed this with my friend's DayZ install, he didn't have "samplemap_test2" and his game works fine.. so, addon files that aren't supposed to be there can cause "session lost" error.

and yes, after all that. my game works now normally, no more "session lost" errors

PS. this is one solution I have not found on internet yet so decided to post it here (too). Also people saying VAC ban can cause this, it's true but it's not the only thing causing this. I know that because I've never been banned from VAC, not from BattlEye either

I too have this problem however its a little different for me, it is related to something in my add-ons folder but I have no idea just what it is. I have tried reinstalling, changing directory, different pc and even going on cracked servers, the whole lot you name it but for some reason it just wont work, However, when I delete my add-ons folder and then validate my game files, the game works for 5 - 10 minutes before coming to its knees with the message "Session lost". It's strange and it is annoying. I do have a VAC ban however this was happening before I got that VAC ban so I'm sure it has nothing to do with it. If anyone has any idea what this is or how to fix it please and i beg of you please let me know as i have been trying to fix it for a long time now. Also, i have never hacked or even wanted to hack on DayZ.
