Damnyourdeadman 1045 Posted February 19, 2015 When you buy raw foods, especially fresh vegetables, one of the first steps you may take is to wash them. When vegetables are grown in the ground, they are at increased risk for coming in contact with contaminants that can commonly live in the soil. While this is something obvious in our everyday lives,it would prove a challenge following this hygiene protocol when in the Apocalypse.Unlike us,survivors don't always have the luxury of a nearby accessible water source. This may be on the realism side, but i propose a system where you have to clean your fruit or vegetables before consumption,or risk an infection chance.Seeing that Diseases is in Q1 in the roadmap this is something that would make an interesting addition in the world of DayZ. nexventor 429 Posted February 20, 2015 I think too much realism can kill a game.
charliepow 100 Posted February 20, 2015 Should also need to wash your hands/gloves after skinning animals or digging holes. Or even opening doors to some degree haha. Washing hands prevents disease.

Damnyourdeadman 1045 Posted February 20, 2015 Lol, I've never washed vegetables/fruits. Never gotten sick. OP's face when writing this comment... But seriously though,i would expect them being relatively clean in order for you to do something like that.As DayZ is a game,we can't properly simulate how hygiene would affect the survivor.Having a system where it tells us how clean is the food,it's not something extraordinary! After all,you wouldn't put in your mouth the one week's old kiwi you found lying under the sofa of a house before making sure it's safe to eat...But of course,i also agree with the opinion that this is micro management feature and we can live without it... ^_^Feedback is always welcome regardless of opinion!
