Dayz fps issues.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, for the longest time i've been having Frame rate issues in dayz. I went into my steam settings and added the FPS meter in game. I got about 20 frames while running around in forests and even worse frames while in cities, this is on the high graphics setting. when i put everything on low, I don't recieve much of a boost in frames. this doesnt make sense to me because my friend who has a similar system can run the game on 1080P on high graphics settings at 50FPS. This is the only game i have frame rate issues and i cant figure out why my frames are so bad...

My specs are:

16 GB Ram

GTX 660

AMD FX 6300

Asus M5a97 R2.0 motherboard

When you say your friend has a similar system he doesn't have intel/nvidia gear instead of AMD does he?  Nothing against AMD here at all just seems this game runs better on intel/nvidia setups at the moment.

The only difference between my friend and my system is he has an AMD a10 6800k, and 8 Gb of ram and we use different motherboards, but if anything i should have better frames than him, but it doesnt seem to be the case

Its your CPU.

Right now its ALL about single core performance. AMD cpus perform a lot worse than intel.

DayZ is so CPU bound that on high end CPU and GPU you can be 100% on 1 core, 50% on the 2nd and 20% on GPU with 20 FPS.

Try overclocking.

My friend runs the game alright (not great, but alright) on an FX-6300 and GTX 760. Intel CPUs do perform better, but you should be able to run the game alright on an AMD CPU too.

OP, are you using any launch parameters in Steam?

Also, try these game settings - everything high/very high, object detail set to very low, no (or low) anti-aliasing and no post-process effects.

FX 6300 is 3.5 GHz and the a10 6800k is 4.1 GHz by default and a turbo speed of 4.4 GHz. I doubt the architectural differences are that different that your CPU should overcome a 0.9 GHz difference. Check if your boost speed of 4.1 GHz is engaging when playing DayZ.

Overclock.

Please don't overclock unless you have the correct know-how and equipment. It wouldn't be a bad idea though.

Yea, Im going to invest in a better CPU cooler, and maybe another case fan. Hopefully when i get them i can overclock my 6300 to play dayZ nicely and not worry about it overheating
