DayZ causing internet connectivity issues in other programs

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've been having this problem for some time now. Basically, whenever I launch Arma2 or even when I launch SixLauncher and it checks for servers, my internet access goes completely haywire. I lose connectivity in almost every other program, and other computers on my home network lose internet access. This can go on for as long as 30 minutes or it can just take 30 seconds to recover. But it has been causing a lot of issues for me. In chrome, when I try to go to a webpage it hangs up on "Sending request". I'm not really sure what to do about this. I'm using AVG antivirus and disabling it seems to do nothing. Very strange problem.

edit: Also, the server browser tends to show question marks for pings or they are at 99999 for a while before giving me actual pings.

Sorry, forgot to add this :

Which version of the game did you purchase? STEAM or RETAIL or MIXED:

Steam

Are you running an Arma 2 OA beta patch? If so what version?:

Latest beta patch.

Which method are you using to launch the game? I.E Sixupdater/steam/batch file:

Either SixLauncher or Arma 2 launcher, doesn't mater.

I just read on another forum that the Arma2 netcode may be triggering the DOS protection on my router. Is this possible?

Okay, I seem to have isolated the problem. When Arma2 queries for servers, my wireless router is becoming overloaded. My router logs show a list of "UDP FLOOD (WAN OUTBOUND)" entries to ip addresses that I'm assuming are DayZ and Arma2 servers. The reason I'm certain its a server query problem is that the issue also happens when I open SixLauncher, which also has a built in server list. Interestingly, this problem seems to happen even after I disable the router firewall. So I'm not really sure what to do. It looks like the Arma2 netcode is just plain shit or my router isn't good enough. Although I kind of doubt it's my router since its a Belkin N and pretty much brand new.

i've been having similar issues. i'm pretty sure its Arma II and not your router; i've posted on the arma ii forums and gotten no response. it's probably the game being crap. hopefully they will fix it because as of right now i can't play the game at all.

I have the same issue with Arma 2 and Day z through 6 launcher. I got up today to play Day z for the first time and as soon as I got it launching a server it crashed my internet, had to go restart my modem. I power cycled my modem and router a few times but it isn't my end. Day z or arma 2 cause my modem to close the internet connection and then I have to restart my modem just to get internet back. Guess I paid for the game at a bad time eh?

I've been having the same problem. My issue may differ from yours, as I am still technically maintaining an internet connection (and Skype continues working). When I try to access the internet during or shortly after Play WithSix is open, I get the yellow network triangle of death and the following error message: "The access point between your somethingorother and the internet is broken"
