Day Z Error: Can't Launch Need Help

Recommended Posts

o I used Six Launcher to install Day Z.

However when I Select a server and click join, it brings up a menu with a bunch of tanks and vehicle in the background and then crashes to my desktop with the following error:

"Bad Serial number given in setup"

Now I think this might be due to the fact that I didn't really load Operation Arrowhead (OA).

Whenever I try and launch OA, I also get the following error when I click play on steam:

"No entry bin\config.bin/CfgInGameUI/MPTTable.shadow "

I click OK, and then Im prompted again with the following error:

"Error compiling pixel shader PSSpecularAlpha:0"

By the way I run Arma 2 just fine.

Any help or direction as to what the hell is going on?

Bad Serial generally shows up if you haven't launched the game in Steam first - you are correct. As for the other errors, have you verified the integrity of the game cache with steam? I do that with all newly installed games on the off chance they missed a file. I did it to ArmaII and OA and both had 1 - 2 files missing and they were downloaded on their own. Try that maybe if you haven't already? :)

I tried Verifying Game Cache, but once it is complete, it comes up as 1 file not verified and it will be reacquired. Don't know what that means

I have a fix for it. If you have Steam and bought the Combined Operations pack then all you need to do is run Arma II, not Arma:OA and when prompted run the Combined Operations selection and it should boot up normally. Then all you need to do it exit out and you should be able to run DayZ! happy hunting!
