zombieland78 42 Posted January 19, 2015 So we have books currently, but the books are existing fiction. I'm sure one or two people read them but largely they're discarded. I wonder if it would then be possible to have blank books, known as diaries, where players can write their own text. I know there's currently paper and you then need a pen to write on them, but they're few and far between. The diaries could have a pen slotted in the spine. I feel that this kind of execution could lead to some player-driven content that might be fun to interact with. The same could work for audio equipment.
Damnyourdeadman 1045 Posted January 19, 2015 Having 50-100 paged notebooks for the survivor to utilize as he sees fit is a great idea.Whether survivors choose to use them as diaries or kindling for their fireplace, notebooks prove to be useful. :)
sachad 1016 Posted January 19, 2015 I like it. It'd be interesting to find other people's notebooks, and see what they've been used for.
shadowranger333 24 Posted January 19, 2015 You write stuff like blood type, coordinates, and that sort of stuff in it too. I think it would be cool to see non-fiction books with knowledge useable in game. Like a nature book that says which berries are edible, a survival guide with crafting instructions for bows and snares, an engineering book to fix cars, guns n ammo magazine. Maybe even newspaper with lore about the infection
zombieland78 42 Posted January 19, 2015 yeah, existing texts with zombie lore in would be useful. Could end the heated debate about what exactly a zombie is!

R2THEON 4 Posted April 12, 2015 So we have books currently, but the books are existing fiction. I'm sure one or two people read them but largely they're discarded. I feel that this kind of execution could lead to some player-driven content that might be fun to interact with. The same could work for audio equipment.Firstly, this is a great idea. You can carry a paper and pen around to write things with (I used to leave notes in random places), but a notebook would be way, way better. Secondly, I searched "books" in suggestions to see if anyone already suggested my idea... which is readable books. apparently you can already read them? How? So much waiting to meet up with nothing to do once the zeds get put down for their nap :D
atempleton 123 Posted April 12, 2015 I used to write notes on paper to congratulate players who killed me, and would give details about myself, my lifestyle in game, my kill tally of players and so on. It would be nice to have journals where you can store information such as blood type, kill tally, a better description and history of status effects, your tent coordinates etc. Perhaps you could personalize it with squad or player URLs, like you could in ARMA 2 with player name and information. Syphonz 64 Posted April 13, 2015 100% behind this. This could allow players to create their own players "backstory" and would be great for RP'ers.
