oscar2603 0 Posted January 19, 2015 Hi guys, I've got a problem with the Standalone with fps. When I originally started playing this game, I was using a HD7850 2GB card and was getting around 30fps in cities and around 50-60 in the countryside. My settings were pretty much 100% resolution but low on pretty much all other settings. However, I upgraded to a Strix GTX 970 and I've actually lost performance. I can run 100% resolution but if I turn settings to around Medium, I'm getting much lower fps (25fps in Balota town / 50fps in countryside). I've got 8GB of RAM and a i5-3570k processor. I don't think there's actually a problem but I can see other people with almost identical settings as me with much higher fps. Is there a guide out there with settings for strictly GTX 970's? Or would anyone help me out. I want the game to look as good as possible with the least amount of FPS hit. Thank you
deebz1234 243 Posted January 19, 2015 (edited) video card doesnt make the difference. however try googling dayz launch parameters, or lookup my thread. are you sure their "identical setup" is identical? no overclocks etc? basically you need 4.0ghz + to get a decent play(20 fps in cities is not horrible...lol, remember this game struggles on the best of the best systems, its the nature of the game and how much is going on)(you can see 20 fps in citites but then amazing fps in the forest, its the way she goes.) you can set your render to 150% and it wont effect ur fps, thanks to ur graphics card. and play around with the AA and AF to your likingAO off and post process off there is no magic also try your user profile and change max frames to 1 and detected frames to 1, but this didnt change anything for me. infact i put mine back to default, as the gtx 970 should handle it no problem for comparison sake, my fps @ 4.3 ghz OC was 25-30 in cities and 60-90 outside of citiesbut at 4.6 ghz overclock, cities are now at ~40 fps and forests about 60-110 fps but i have 6 core x99, but theoretically the game wont use more than 4 core anyways. i just read ur fps, thats normal dude, consider yourself oen of the lucky ones. only chance for you is the overclock to like 4.5 ghz and you will be happier, but i still see 25fps dips once and a while in a big zombie infested/firefight all settings on ultra, render to 150% Edited January 19, 2015 by deebz1234
oscar2603 0 Posted January 19, 2015 Ah ok, thanks for the detailed reply! :) Hopefully I'll get to the kind of quality/performance ration that I like. Thanks again!
deebz1234 243 Posted January 19, 2015 whats your processor speed?thats the biggest bottleneck in arma3/dayz
oscar2603 0 Posted January 20, 2015 Stock which is 3.4Ghz. I'm worried about OCing because my PSU is only 600W.
smochi 2 Posted January 20, 2015 (edited) Gtx 970 doesn't use much power so you'll do fine oc'ing. I oc'ed my 4770k to 4.6ghz on 650 psu and my gpu uses alot more power :P Edited January 20, 2015 by smochi
oscar2603 0 Posted January 20, 2015 Ok, I'll look into it. Probably won't do something as asswhooping like 4.6 but maybe 4 to start and go from there. Thanks again guys!
