Stings2pee 106 Posted May 15, 2012 I know a couple threads already exist for the 1.5.7. spawning-on-the-shore issue, but here's what happened to me (in order of occurrence):-Installed 1.5.7-Logged onto same server as before (same spawn point as when I left).-Setup tent.-Put Winchester and ammo inside tent.-Saved tent.-Ran for 3 hours to NE airstrip.-Found M4 and picked it up.-Logged out of server.-Logged onto a different server to find:I randomly spawned on the shore again with all my items INCLUDING my tent and Winchester?!? However, the M4 disappeared because I guess it was replaced by the Winchester....Perhaps this wouldn't have happened if I logged back into the same server?Any advise would be greatly appreciated :)Bump for justice
-Legion-xHawk 4 Posted May 15, 2012 Which server was it? Was it Atlanta 3 by chance? We had a issue earlier where there was a period of approximately 90 minutes where the server was up, but nothing was saving, upon a reboot, everything was as it was prior to those 90 minutes. Stings2pee 106 Posted May 15, 2012 I'm not entirely sure what the 2nd server was that I went to. But I was originally on "Italia - Hosted by: UnitedClanitalia" prior to switching. Then once I logged onto the 2nd server, I re-spawned along the coast.
Tomahawk (DayZ) 0 Posted May 15, 2012 I have experienced the same issue. When the 1.5.7 was initially released I had no problem. I was able to place the tent on the US Hardcore 2 server, log out and rejoin a different server and come back to find my tent and contents still there. But now a day and change later I logged in to a random server and found myself on a beach in the SouthEast far from where I placed my tent and logged. Luckily I seem to have everything still in my pack.

Tomahawk (DayZ) 0 Posted May 15, 2012 As soon as I found myself on the beach I immediately disconnected and joined the US Hardcore 2 server where I had the tent. I was still on the beach in the SE.Is that what you are asking?

I was still on the beach in the SE.Is that what you are asking?Ah you got lucky then. Asides from spawning back on the coast, when I went back on the server where my tent was setup, it magically appeared back in my inventory even though I manually saved it before changing servers. I'm thinking that if I would've logged back onto my 'home' server, my tent would've remained and I wouldn't have spawned on the coast.

oilman 72 Posted May 15, 2012 I don't see a problem with judging people who exploit.
Stings2pee 106 Posted May 15, 2012 Switching servers for loot wasn't the intent here. I was trying to see if helicopters spawn in the hangers, but even if I was server hopping for loot, I hardly see the argument in calling it an 'exploit' since DayZ saves your character and inventory across the servers... So deal with it.In any event, the purpose for saying that I found an M4 was to help explain this (glitch?) as to why the recently-acquired weapon was swapped for the Winchester and tent that was saved in a different server prior to switching. Macenzie 79 Posted May 15, 2012 Sounds like a rollback to me
tajin 17 Posted May 15, 2012 I hardly see the argument in calling it an 'exploit' since DayZ saves your character and inventory across the serversThat functionality is there, to allow you to play with the gear you've found even when your favourite server is full or unavailable. It's not really intended for jumping from server to server once you've found a good spot with loot. What that does, is it puts more pressure on the hive making it more likely that it may not save your gear in time when you jump back out.So this actually promotes the sort of bug (rollback) you encountered. (not the part about spawning on the beach, that was related to the patch)It's a good practice to check the debug monitor and make sure you'r character is actually saved before disconnecting. It should save automatically when you leave but I wouldn't always count on that, considering how overloaded the hive must be.
Macenzie 79 Posted May 15, 2012 If you know how to farm loot propperly you don't even need to switch servers (unless loot stops respawning for some reason)

The tent and Winchester were placed and saved for a solid 3 hours prior to switching servers. The debug monitor should've saved my profile a hundred times by then...[attachment=131]
