Beizs 186 Posted January 3, 2015 Yeah, I don't really see much of a reason to use a sword over a fireaxe - and it's even rarer than one, too. Maybe for splitting the damage done to your weapons and tools, but then why not just use a fireaxe and keep a splitter in your inventory (or even a machete)? zeotrope 76 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) I think there should be a compromise here in the way loot spawns. Surely an AK (or a sword) should spawn anywhere and everywhere. But it would be unlikely....but still a possibility. Why should an experienced player know what to expect to find in any particular area? A sword should spawn anywhere but most likely in the correct setting. 90% chance in a castle or similar and 10% anywhere else. It would instantly prompt the most unlikely locations to be checked rather than passed by. Example: if I am fully equipped in the way of food / water and all other basics, and only need an assault rifle to complete my load-out, I would only check military areas and helicopter crashes. Correct? But why? If the Devs gave all items that ever so slight chance to spawn anywhere, even only a remote chance, the surprise / reward factor would be great. It would make an instinctive 'side track' on the chance of scoring something worthwhile......worthwhile. This game reeks of predictability. From the 'sameness' of every town to the loot types that spawn in particular houses. From the online database maps that tell you what to find and where, to the preset heli-crash locations scattered across the landscape. I mean COME ON! Mix it up a little. Where is the fuzzy logic or is every entity we are to come across hard-wired into the game and no chance of randomness ? Good you found a sword. But it could have been an AK.
