play dayz off an external hard drive?

Recommended Posts

and not just dayz but whatever game i fancy that week..will it run slow? not load well?

i guess i dont see the difference between a usb connection being metal on metal vs an internal hard drive that has a ribbon cable connection making it metal and metal.

opinions?

why would you do that? though its possible but the loading time will probably enhance

some other things you may want to know, every external hdd holds a "real" hdd in it. So you could just take of the cover from your hdd and build it into your PC.

And if its about download capacity you can just move your game files onto the external from lets say a laptop and put it on your PC. (should work at least with steam games and the same OS)

But if you really want to do this you should at least use USB 3.0 instead USB 2.0

For comparison USB 3.0 works with ~115 Mb/s

while sata3 (sata6) works with 600 Mb/s (probably the connection of your internal hdd)

and USB 2.0 with only ~35 Mb/s
