Some oddities

Recommended Posts

Ok so a few things happened last nightt hat seemed to make no sense so thought I woild post them up ( im assuming currently its just glitches as its alpha)

1- was on the first floor of one of the buildings in the NW airfield, down the corridor from the stairs looking at loot when suddenly my screen goes red and both my legs are broken, trousers and boots ruined, everything in pockets ruined.
Crawl to the upstairs room, close the door and set up assuming somehow ive been shot by a silent round. Noone comes up to investigate or to claim their kill and my mate turns up and patches me up.

we decide to his the military base in the south as the entire airfield is devoid of anything useful ( at this point weve been on the server for 6 hours and most towns weve been in have been empty of food or useful supplies)

we hit the military base and its RAMMED with kit, we counted 44 makarovs, 8 P1 pistols, 22 ak74, 12 SKS, 4 shotungs. And hundreds of military boots, helmets, vests, backpacks, ammo etc etc

We are in a long room fully seached and we lock the entrance door, one of us stays on the door while two of us look for loot. Suddenly one of the middle rooms door is closed ( wed already cleared it and left it open) friend opens it, and is KOS by someone super geared up. I walk out of my room ( no shots heard just my friend saying hes dead) see the uber geared person.. and my game freezes, unresponsive, when it responds i am dead. Friend by the door has same issue, sees the uber guy, his game freezes and he is killed.

So was wondering if anyone else has seen this sort of thing servers empty of loot barr a single location overflowing with gear? and their game freezing when under fire etc? or their legs breaking randomly.

1.) It's a know Player and Building Collision Mesh bug, it will not be fixed until Q1 2015. 2.) The Super loot in one area is because of persistence being activated on that server. 3.) Could be either Desync or Cheater or Bad luck.

The breaking legs issue is a common DayZ dsync/lag issue.  The server thinks you are slightly somewhere else and then when it syncs, it thinks you are in the middle of the floor and breaks your legs accordingly.  I have had many breaks and a few deaths (probably 4 or 5) in the last few months due to this.  Improvements in server performance will hopefully lessen these episodes.

Persistent servers have a loot spawning problem just now.  There can be towns or sectors of the map that are completely empty of anything useful and other areas where its a loot explosion.  A lot of servers have turned persistence off due to this.

Sounds like the dude who killed you spawned into that room (he probably logged off there earlier).  Not sure why both of you lagged out before your deaths, probably just coincidence or server lag.  Shots have a sound bug just now that means you sometimes cannot hear them.

Hello there gents. The issues have been reported and will be addressed by the team:
(Broken legs): http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=5169

(Loot issue): http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=17617

(Audio issue): http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=18245

The freezing/lagging issue during your encounter was most likely just random, as Beav mentions.

Sounds like SA at the moment unfortunately. I died running along a road next to a rocky cliff. There were a couple smallish boulders sticking up out of the ground. My characters foot hit between them and dipped maybe a inch, then "you are dead". It's going to be impossible for them to repair every weird glitch on such a huge map, let's just hope they get at the main ones like breaking your legs inside common structures. Plus it would be great if they could start sorting out the sound issues sooner than later.
