Performance Loss After Reinstall

Recommended Posts

Okay I'm having a bit of a strange problem, I'll try and keep it brief.  I was running DayZ quite happily on mediumish settings with playable FPS (20 to 40, depending on location), but recently I bought a SSD for my computer, so reinstalled Windows 7 and DayZ on it.  I also backed up my DayZ.cfg file, and User.DayZProfile file, and copied them to the new install, so the settings are exactly the same as before.  Now I can barely get 10 FPS out of it.  Even on lowest settings with the resolution turned down I can only just get the same FPS I used to get on Medium with max res.  Surely installing DayZ on a SSD should have increased the performance, not lowered it?  Any ideas how I can fix this?

If I am not wrong, a friend of mine had a very very similar problem, it took a while, but he eventually fixed it. Ill ask him how he managed to fix this prob and EDIT it into this post later

First thought after reading your OP was "try to delete the files you've mentioned that copied all settings over from another hardware config"

Any ideas how I can fix this?

You changed the physical location of your Windows. Don't copy stuff!

When you have made sure that this isn't the reason, we can start to look a bit deeper.

I tried using the default config files as well, just as bad.  All the config files have in is graphics settings, I don't see how the disk drive it's installed on would make any difference.  I just copied them across so I didn't have to mess about in the settings for ages setting up the graphics again.

Thank you very much!  Have you had chance to ask him?

Not yet, but I do recall him mentioning something about Nvidia, and the  nvidia control panel.

Lemme get your steam ID, and maybe you can talk to him
