Survivor-Kyle 148 Posted July 1, 2012 I'm the guy you saved tonight. I just wanted to say thanks, and I hope that MP5SD mag serves you well. Backstory:I was in Electro and got PK'd by a guy while I was in the power plant. No big deal, it happens. I was a bit sad that I lost my toolbox (I have been removing wire from EVERYWHERE), but C'est la vie, no?I respawned near Electro and set out to gear up. I collected some stuff and wandered back toward the Power Plant (30+ mins had passed) when a shot rang out and hit me, but failed to make the kill. I retreated back into town and got swarmed near the supermarket. A shot from somewhere else broke my leg. I had heard several near by, and suspected that the one that hit me was not intentional. I called out "friendly" over DC in hopes that I could cheat death. The player called Friendly as well. We met up, and I was in sad shape--bleeding, sub-3k blood, broken leg. This guy, who was a total stranger mind you, dosed me with morphine AND gave me a transfusion. I told him about the sniper in the 'plant, gave him my last MP5SD mag (he had run out of ammo in his), and we parted ways. Times like this remind me that not EVERYONE on DayZ is an asshole. It makes me not regret my "Ask first, shoot second" policy, even if it gets me killed more often than not. (For all the cool story bros out there, I figured I'd share since the only posts that ever pop up are people bitching about how no one cooperates and how the game is just a wild deathmatch now. Clearly there are exceptions)
Hetstaine 10852 Posted July 1, 2012 Cool stuff :) There is enough exceptions to make the game still very playable for me, the whole shoot on site stuff gets boring pretty quickly. Especially for newbies i imagine. The first friendly guy i met on Dayz was a guy called Griff or something similar. He bumped into me near the firestation at Elektro, told me he knew where a weapon was and lead me too a Winchester with some ammo. We ended up covering each other up to the powerplant where he said had to log off. Was good finally finding someone who didnt pop a cap in me within the first split second. Best one was a guy i met at the NW airfield .Wickenden was his name, i had spent ages getting up there and was about 5000 blood when we bumped into each other in the main hangars, both of us did not shoot on sight..just hid at either side of the hangar.. he asked if i had any spare AKM ammo , i didnt have any but i dropped a bloodpack so he could fix me, which he did, then i repayed the favour by topping him up with my last bloodpack. We bid each other good luck and journeyed on. Since then i have managed to help a few guys while they have crept around and armed up and been rewarded with no bullets to the face. Oh yeh except for the guy who hacked me with an axe from behind while i was making sure he could get across a street to the Cherno apartments..i guess my ak74 and Alice pack was just too tempting for him to have to work to get his own. Such is Dayz life...but the good ones out there keep you going :)

spankimus 71 Posted July 1, 2012 Those kind of moments are quite special :'). The closest thing I had to it was my group of friends suddenly meeting up with another group of friends... Things were a little tense, and everyone had their guns ready to unload on one another. However, over dc we offered each other supplies and parted ways. One of the sketchiest things I've done in DayZ so far. At any point things could've gotten really, really hairy. But it is nice to know not everyone doesn't just go trigger happy on sight.
