Rule 1 for finding THAT ONE THING:

 

Clear your mind from WANTING and the goods will be found by you.

So true. If you get loot tunnel vision you'll never find what you are looking for. I could not for the life of me find a hacksaw in the last week despite looking all over for it. I gave up/forgot to seek it out and I stumbled on one last night. It's best to play with the hand you're dealt. I can survive just fine on a Repeater+Magnum combo.
