.50 tips for lazy non exp players

Recommended Posts

TLDR:  You are going to tell me to play it and find out.

After reading the changelog, I have come up with a couple points.  But I'd like to open the floor to anyone willing to tell me exactly how .50 affects my current game life since I never have played experimental:

Haven't experienced/am curious about:

Gardening:  From all accounts the starvation/thirst in experimental was toned up and probably wont be that high in stable so this is necessary or unnecessary?

Shoe repair:  basically the same question as above, but for shoes not produce.

New weapons:  Again, not "necessary" right?  Just cool new weapons to use right?  Minus the shotgun which if I can saw off is clearly going in my bag.

Locking/lockpicking:  I didn't understand this... only works on persistent servers, or is only persistent on said servers.  Do we need something to lock the doors? or just to unlock them. (tools required)  Also are all doors lockable?  It seems like this is just a cool new thing to do they put in.  With only 40 people on a server at the most how feasible is it to lock doors in hot scenarios, honestly.

"Metal wire" - curious as to what this is for.

Basically I already used to carry food for myself just in case.  Now I need to carry duct tape and a leather sewing kit.  The new guns don't really impact gunfights at the moment and I'll just have to see whether or not I can ignore locking/unlocking doors for now.

Lock picks I can explain - with a lockpick you can lock a door (from either side). Once locked, someone can open it but they'll either need to shoot it open, meelee it, or stand there punching it for a while. In other words, say you want to camp safely or avoid pursuers such as a bambi with a death wish - you can run into a building and using a lock pick lock the door behind you. You can also lock someone in a building this way, someone runs in to look and you can close the door and lock it behind them for grins. This will be a fun one to play with!

- Starvation/thirst has been adjusted and seems pretty well balanced to me. Water is more important that it was previously so make sure you keep a canteen on you if you plan on doing any long distance running.

- Gardening is probably not necessary unless food loot is more properly balanced now. In exp there was no need to garden with all the food lying around.

- Shoes degrade over time but it shouldn't be too much of a game changer. Duct tape can be used to reinforce boots as they become damaged.

- Haven't used any of the new weapons except the shotgun and it's awesome

-You need a lockpick to both lock and unlock any interactable door. Locked status should remain persistent on persistent servers (Not sure if all servers are persistent or not..?) but you can still lock doors on non-persistent servers. You can bust open locked doors with melee weapons/guns/fists if you don't have a lockpick

-Metal wire can be combined with a stick to craft a rabbit snare. Not sure if persistent.

Basically, if you are a new spawn, you need to get off the coast to find food. The persistence (on all servers with 0.50 stable iirc) is a little broken, so most stuff spawns inland where people aren't looting (items just stack up in some spots....Green Mountain barracks in exp had heaps of stuff). Hydradtion is still pretty bad, not sure about hunger though. Gardening and hunting require certain items, so it will take a while to get the stuff. Don't waste time looking for guns, equipment etc, just head inland for food, then worry about the rest once you are energised.

They have toned down shoe damage, initially you needed a new pair of shoes after running for 5 minutes, now not so bad. No running around without shoes on as you take damage now with ruined or no shoes.

New guns are pretty cool, but not essential. Not sure if you can saw off the pump action shotty, awesome if you can.

Lockpicks - see above

Metal wire can be used to make snares and fish traps with a stick...haven't used them yet....

If you get a leather sewing kit, you don't need to worry about duct tape. It works similar to the sewing kit taking items back to worn (also works on vests!!!). Duct tape takes items to damaged, so leather sewing kit FTW!!!

I am really interested in the new towns and locations...didn't explore as much as I wanted on exp, so still things to check out in stable!!

True but they can just log out and join another server, just another reason we need one character per server
