23.5 or 24.5 hour day/night cycle

Recommended Posts

A lot of people have the problem of only being able to play when it is night on one's own side of the Atlantic of Pacific. A way to alleviate this problem while keeping a very long day/night cycle is to offset it from the natural cycle by a half our or so - day and night cycle every 23h 30m or every 24h 30m, so that over the course of 48 days (unless my math is bogus), the game day-night cycle will pass over the entirety of a real-life day. The difference in length will not be perceptible in any given gameplay session.

Of course, this may present coordination difficulties for some who are planning on certain game-times at certain RL-times, but overall it will help those of us who are condemned to playing nocturnally.

In general, I would like to see servers located in the US or europe with +-6-12 hour server times. That way if you're inclined to chase the daylight, you don't have to do so at 150 ping. I agree with you though, this would be a good way of doing it and shouldn't screw up script timing too much, which is a reason why the game has to have real life timescale.
