Character is constantly corrupted by servers, making it impossible to save character progress

Recommended Posts

This problem is getting worse and worse. I used to be able to play DayZ: SA for weeks and I wouldn't lose my character unless I was killed.

In the last month or two, this has changed completely. Every time I try to play DayZ, I lose my character when trying to load a server. It will give me a red message, saying it was unable to load my character data, so it has been reset. So practically every time I play the game, build up my character, and acquire loot - I lose it when I switch to a different server. I'd say the likelihood of my losing my character upon switching is about 10%. So one out of ten times when I join a server, my character is lost by the DayZ Database.

What happened to the servers to cause them to lose the character data so constantly? Is there any awareness regarding this issue? Seems like a very long time before this immense game-breaking bug is going to get any attention or fixed.

Log out immediately and try another server. Your old character isn't lost until you move from your spot and save your new character.

It doesn't work like that. As soon as I'm given that red message, my character is certainly lost. I know this because no matter what server I join from there, it will says I spawn in 30 seconds instead of 60+, indicating that it already has new character data for me anywhere I go. It doesn't matter if I move, don't move, join the same server, join different ones, etc. - makes no difference.
