Ballistic9 0 Posted May 17, 2012 My first encounter with outright bandits was last night. I had the "waiting on server" thing for quiet a while so went off to get a drink and missed my spawn. So I had no clue where I was. It was also pitch black out.Eventually I get to a small villiage (no idea which), it is lit up with flares and there's plenty of shooting and zombies running around. I skirted around in the darkness to remain unseen and I witness a bandit running after a survivour and eventually gunning him down.I out flank the bandit and sneak right up on him. There were no cross-hairs and I only had the starting gun. I scope in and put two in the bandits head. I figure its justice. Then another bandit peeps out from behind the house and shoots me. I started bleeding but ran and bandaged to buy time. I then double-backed as the bandit would probably head me off in the way he saw me run.I managed to get back into the darkness and watch as the bandit circles the house in the light of the flares trying to find me. I then stupidly chance shooting him from a distance with the pistol. Next thing I know 4 or more zombies are kicking me to death. I was already injured so that was the end of me.Was fun though. Katana67 2907 Posted May 17, 2012 Yeah' date=' I really do like how hard it is to loot towns solo now. Or at least, it's slower and more dangerous. It's sort of irritating though, because sometimes I'll just stand up randomly and get aggro'd by zombies... which is weak. But, outside of the deathtraps of Elektro and Cherno, I don't see too many bandits in towns like Stary Sobor anymore or any towns up north. There are just too many zombies to be packing off rounds at survivors with CZ's and DMR's. Much more dangerous in the fields though.[/quote']But isn't that the point? Cherno and Elektro ARE deathtraps. They are major population points in Chernarus and this they are dangerous as shit at night. I am not a veteran, I have probably played about 10 hours between 5 lives, but my point is that a dangerous spot SHOULD be dangerous, y'know? Nobody should walk up on one at night and if it is during the day you are still safer with 5 survivors rather than 1-2 bandits. I think it adds a nice benefit to retaining survivor status for as long as possible...Oh, I agree totally. Cherno and Elektro should totally be deathtraps. Hence why I've never been to either :DEDIT - So... another update.Today, I came to the realization that I haven't got the bandit skin since my first character over two weeks ago now. I've killed a few here and a few there, but never two in one life... or I've killed a player, but they've disconnected so I didn't get credit for it. It's sort of called into question my adopting the bandit philosophy. I mean, I abide by it... but just haven't really put it into full-fledged practice. This is no fault of my own, as I'd rather be not seen and let someone go than just shoot them. I've never had any real problem getting resources and weapons, so I don't kill for that reason. But I started to think that I cannot really be called a "bandit" per se. This is due to the gray areas that are not accounted for in the Survivor/Bandit duality. Perhaps it's worth dividing into three categories, Paragon, Survivor, Bandit. No idea.
Raven_2012 0 Posted May 17, 2012 I play survivor most of the time and I think coming across other survivor are more dangerous, because they can be your friend at one moment and next shot you in the back. At least most bandits I come across kill me or tell me to get out of area. That is the black and white of it. I can across a group of survivors the other day at the NW airfield. I was with a bandit buddy of mine. I was navigating him threw the woods around the west side of airfield. As I came out a patch of woods and across another patch of woods, saw 5 survivors heading into airfield. I pulled back into woods and waited for a few minutes. Told my bandit friend to linger behind some while I tail these guys and see where they went. A few minutes later I heard guns shots SW part of airfield. As I got there saw zombies running in, they took them out. Then all of a sudden a fire fight broke out, the survivors turned on each other. At this time my bandit buddy had a few in his CZ sites and he took them out. The other one was gunned down by the lone survivor who ran away, and there was one survivor on ground hiding. I approached the guy from his flank by wall, had my bandit friend distract him with gun fire. I then came around wall with MP5 and put a full clip in guy. He goes down and then gets up. He shots me once with winchester and I got down for count, but at same time I put some more MP5 rounds in him and kills him. I get up with my new bandit skin and 200 blood, but lucky all the survivors had lots of cooked meat. I ate all the meat to get blood back. So like someone said earlier, it is all situational. This is what I love about this mod, I can be running in woods and next minute watching a group of guys betray each other. I find survivors more dangerous, just because you don't know what to expect from them. They can have those hidden agendas, even if a player is another survivor.A bandit will kill you from somewhere where you can't see him, or tell you to get out of area and don't look back. A survivor will be like, "Hi I want to team up because I am scared and lonely." And next minute you will be eating some beans and having a few laughs, then get a bullet in back of head because he wants your coyote pack. I rather die in battle then by someone inside a players circle. So I trust no one or very few.Every encounter has its own choice to go either one way or another, right or wrong. We live or die by those choices.
