Weekly Events/End game fun

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I was recently thinking about what type of end game or team features/events could be added to the game in later development or arma 3 (with dayz)

I came up with a few that add a new team dynamic and survival asspect to the game.

1. The Drought

Somehow players will be informed there is a drought coming. Players will have to stockpile water/drinks. After a given time, Pumps will stop working. Inland water sources will dry up (or cant use). Drink drop chances massively reduced. This drought phase can last for a few days to a week.

Solo Bandit players will either have to constantly farm cities to find drinks. Team up with other bandits. Go north in search of water stockpiles from survivors.

Survivors can find new allies to team up with and stockpile water. Existing survivor groups will need to raid cities to collect water bottles/drink.

2. The Freeze

Again, Somehow players will be informed of a coming freeze. During the freeze temp drop will be massively increased. Heatpack drop rates reduced. Fire rate of heating reduced.

Here I was thinking if Cargo nets (like the ones near berinzino* military tents) could become an item you could set them up to avoid the rain. Instead of having to run to a shelter in a town or city, as the rain would cool you down much faster during the freeze.

Players would need to stock up on heatpacks. Find a decent place to camp, near a town or city to seek shelter if you did not have a cargo net/vehicle.

Bandits, would have to stock firewood to build in their camping spots (in towns)

These last 2 I haven't given much thought to, will edit later once I

3. Fallout/Sickness

Haven't thought out the details. Only that if it was a fallout you would need to find anti radiation meds, and with a sickness antibiotics.

4. The Herd (not sure if arma 2 engine could support)

Put simply, Zombie numbers would be massively increased, and they could spawn anywhere on the map. If your camped with a bunch of teammates currently 50 of them could spawn 50m away from you, charge your base, which you would have to defend.

The ideas behind all of these would be to increase teamwork, and the chances of teaming up with other players. All of these suggestions are very realistic, and very deadly. To add a feature that would force you, to work, to survive.

Feedback?

Thanks,

Mitchell

Good ideas but how would they work?

I'm assuming these would be server sided, right? If one server is in "freeze" mode then people would just change servers.

For the herd, not sure i quite understand but why not just walk around them? unless they are protecting something then that would pretty much be a heli crash site.

I was thinking it could be global across all servers. It would make the game even more realistic and much much harder.

I actually like that idea, Something could be guarded by 100-200 zombies. It would have top tier loot whatever the zombies were guarding. While players were clearing, bandits could be clearing players that expose theirselves for to long.
