Finding Tents in DayZ - The Efficient Way

Howdy everybody, StreakTheFox here to give you guys a quick video a buddy and I made just the other day.  It will give you a pretty good idea of what I believe to currently be the most efficient way to find tents in DayZ.

What sort of problems will this cause though for people on the roof for an extended period of time?

 

I'm thinking sniper tagets...though the sniper would have to be in an advantageous position.

They are the largest storage spaces in the game so far, and last through server restarts on persistence enabled servers.

Thanks for the video... Ive found 2 tents in 4 attempts trying this method. 1 on a roof, 1 on the 8th floor.

 

 

Protip for how not to be an idiot... I lost my first one putting it down to get water, the world swallowed it. Im holding my 2nd tent now and am thristy... im not putting this baby on the ground till im setting it up though... so drink all the water you can before tent hunting -.-

Or make sure to have enough room in your backpack, specifically half of a hunting bag free.

Actually, a hunting backpack is 5 slots wide and 6 slots long, while a tent takes up 2 horizontal slots and 6 vertical slots.  As a result, it only takes up 2/5 of a hunting backpack.

I havent really looked for any tents tbh. I dont trust if they will be there on restart. With the persistence servers is it there always on restarts or do you get boned time to time with it not being there(not by a player taking it but from a restart) It would be cool to go out and find them but im just curious about the current state of them being there when i log in(not to a player taking it) but with restarts ect.

My understanding is certain types of items will persist through a server reset the overwhelming majority of the time... and that the only time things like backpacks and tents might not be persistent is when the server is having problems such that it basically needs to be reset back to "factory default" 

 

My expectation is, without horrible luck, my tent if unfound will stay for a few days, and that as that turns into weeks id expect it to be gone every time i logged in.

Tents, backpacks, weapons, and I believe a few other items will stay after a server restart on a persistent server.  You just have to make sure your server is persistent before you join it and set up a tent!  Easy way to test it is to put a gun somewhere and wait for a restart.  If your gun's there after a restart, the server is persistent.

I don't get why you would go off topic and just post your own thread like that.  It's pretty much the exact same as posting a link to your own youtube video on someone else's youtube video saying "Hey, watch my video I made and subscribe to me!"

I just didn't feel like making the exact same post in 2 different threads. Feel free to answer in this thread to my question. I don't want to fight or to offend and if you're feeling annoyed, I am sorry for you. I just want to discuss the issues of the whole "Is persistence still that buggy or is it just me"-thing.
