Random FPS drops (Just started after Gamespy > Steam migration)

Recommended Posts

I've been playing DayZ Mod since it came out. I've never had this issue until just recently.

I'd be consistently be at 25-30FPS and then suddenly drop down to 7-10. This has been happening for a week or two now.

I have reinstalled both Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA. Optimized my settings (Although they were always the same). Tried reducing my graphics down to bare minimum.

I am really confused, I want to continue playing but cant due to this error. It's like I get 30 seconds of gameplay without any FPS drops and 20 seconds of FPS drop.

Computer Specs:

Processor: 64-bit Intel Core i5 "Sandy Bridge" processor with quad cores. 3.1 Ghz.

RAM: 4GB

Graphics Card: Radeon HD 6970M w/1GB GDDR5

Display: 27" 16:9 Widescreen (2560x1440)

I've played DayZ mod on this computer since at least 2011 and never had this issue. Any feedback would be appreciated. I would love you if you could help me fix this. Thanks a lot!

Hey

I don't know how to say this, but you posted black text.

Have you got a temperature monitoring program? eg hwinfo? If not download one and check temps and gpu/cpu usage while you get the 'drop'

You are not the only one.  Ever since the steam patch of arma2oa (not 100%) I've noticed this as well.  Every 30 minutes to an hour I'll get the 'whoa wtf' frame stutter and back to normal again.  It's not game breaking but it is noticeable.  I've got several machines in the house (PC gaming kids and me) with FX-8320, i7 and i5 with GTX670s and they all do it when playing the mod.

It's not just dayzmod but all the other derivatives (epoch, overpoch, etc...).

How would I go about fixing this then? Did you do anything to fix it?

It's really bothering me man, this is the only game I play and I can't even play it.

Arteh, I've learned to live with the occasional stutter every 30 mins to an hour frequency.

I have however turned off all the unnecessary processes while playing.  I just leave TS3, steam and the game on.  DayzCommander and/or Launcher are closed.  Never use them now.

Arteh, set the command line so that you are not logging on the client side.  Here is what I use.

-noPause -nosplash -skipintro -mod=@Dayz; -noPatchCheck -winxp -nologs

It may help a little.
