My Basic Survival Tips

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I have have been playing this game for awhile now(maybe around 1.4-1.5) and I just wanted to share some tips with the new players.

Disclaimer: These tips will only prolong your Dayz life not make you a god.

1. MORPHINE: go to the nearest hospital and stockpile this because a player with a broken leg is a dead player. (get other supplies as well)

2. Weapons: you're going to need something to protect yourself whether its a hatchet or a pistol you'll need it.

3. Cities: cities are great for getting decent loot but beware bandits do haunt those areas.

4. Backpacks: get a better back pack Czech and ALICE will do.

5. Travel: don't be afraid to go through the woods their are less zombies there.

6. Secondaries: Anything but a makarov (preferably a M1911)

7. Primaries: Depends on your style of play but starting out go for a Winchester.

8. Tools: Map and compass are near mandatory everything else is recommended.

9. Groups: Try to group up I know its hard to trust people but odds of survival are better.

10. Players: When meeting another player or running around in general keep your gun pointed down it help with trust.

11. Water Bottles: Personally I don't use them but if you are going through the woods get one there are more water pumps around.

12. Airstrips: Belota's Airstrip is generally more friendly than the other two and they all equally spawn very good loot some more than others.

13. Get used to dying: I can't stress this enough getting used to dying helps you learn about your weakness and what you can do to fix them.

e.g. running in the open

14. Stay next to cover: I hope I don't need to explain this one.

15. Firefights: Keep your cool especially if the other person has a sniper and try your hardest not to disconnect and return fire, if you can see them, it will give you enough time to escape otherwise run like hell.

16. Ghillie suits: Get one ASAP they are rare but very helpful. (check coffee shops)

17. Carry two primaries: One rifle one sniper I hope you got that back pack I was talking about earlier.

18. Meat: Essentially mini blood transfusions.

Well... that's all I could think of I hope it helped and if you have more to add comment below. Thanks for reading!

matches...

together with a knife and hatchet, these are going to keep you alive forever in the woods.

I just got myself a nice pack (Alice) and I am wondering about the second primary, in previous games I've lost guns in my pack. As long as I have 10 slots free in the pack I should be safe correct?

Thanks for the tips.

Alternate tips:

1) Cities - Do not enter

2) Essential Supplies: 1 Food, 1 Drink, 1 Bandage, 1 Painkiller, 1 Morphine

3) Essential Equipment: Hunting Knife, Matches, Hatchet

4) Grouping - Attempting to do this ingame is extremely risky. Best to do outside of game first.

Basically what Sandorski said.

You really only ever need a knife, matches, a hatchet and a water canteen. A map would be recommended for navigation, but not essential.

You have unlimited food and water right there and the means to stay warm, and that is all that's needed to survive. Stay in the woods and never meet a soul. Not saying it will be a lot of fun (more like a grind, I suppose) but completely feasible.
