Want to Join the Party

Recommended Posts

Hey, I just found out about this game/mod today and I really want to start playing, but I'm not sure if my PC can handle it or not. I have enough hard drive space and RAM, but my computer is about 6 years old so the graphics card and processor might struggle to handle it.

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT

Processor: 1.87GHz Intel Core II Duo

Based on the specs for ARMA II, it looks like I'm right on the edge of being able to play it. Just wondering if this mod is more demanding and how the game runs at minimum specs before I plunk down $30 on a Steam copy of the game.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Download arma2 (free version) from steam and test out your computer.

I would say you could just about play it and get away with it on the basic settings, AA off,low textures and shadows disabled etc.

I used to play on an AMD 6000+ dual core @3ghz

And a 8800 GT and could play on medium with 5000mtr (three mile) view distance, i used to turn shadows off though, they look nasty on normal or low but good on high.

Well when you enter cities and the game starts to render all of the building you will most likely have a huge FPS drop. Still playable though, might not be as fun :\

Hmm testing the free version is a good idea, but yeah I figured that it will work if I turn all the settings down to the minimum.

Been thinking about buying a new computer anyway, so this might be a good excuse.

Thanks for the replies!
